art’s complex has identified a property in edinburgh which will lend itself to easy conversion to art studios: saint margaret‘s house on london road edinburgh. designed and built in the 1970’s as a purpose built set of open plan offices.
it makes specific use of its footprint to provide a template which is repeated on each successive floor. the building is no more than forty years old, is sound and well maintained. it has plenty of good natural light and is well appointed to provide all major services. it is also able to provide good security.

in response to an identified demand, the site, which provides up to 90,000 square feet of usable space, will be redesigned to accommodate for assured rental, art studios with supporting media related offices, meeting and exhibition/event space.
each floor is set on two wings: east and west,. the east wing providing up to 5,000 square feet of rateable floor space and the west wing providing up to 6,250. the main services; lifts, toilets etc are all placed centrally within the main stair case structure. stair cases at the end of the east and west wings make for easy access to the ground floor.
