the artists will use video, performance and sculpture to investigate the spatial and temporal attributes of the set, which may be interpreted theatrically or cinematically. more specifically, the work within the show will be informed by the contrast between the real time that continues outside of the frame/stage and the controlled time that exists within the designated frame/stage, and their mutually exclusive coexistence. we hope the show will be a response to the willing agreement of the viewer to participate in this division of real time and simulated time, and the experiential artifacts of being the architect of this separation.
the physical properties of the gallery space - its architectural features and relationship to outdoor space for instance - will inform our decisions during the fruition of set off set, and the show will be installed with an awareness of the setting as a whole. with a view to opening up and manipulating space, it likely that certain elements will spill out of the gallery, be it visually (through windows onto the street) or physically, through discrete performance, outside of but relayed back into the venue.
